Norfolk Project Focus and Develop learning at ASDA Gt Yarmouth Support
from the Store Manager has been difficult, but despite this Mel has been
doing a cracking job. Hopefully
in 2006 attitudes will change and the employer will see how positive
working with rather than against Trade Unions can be.
ASDA employees are finally getting photo exposure to learning thanks to the GMB Union. It has taken some 18 months to get the first course up and running with lots more planned for 2006. In Nov and Dec several taster sessions on Digital Photography with IT were organised and was a fantastic success. Every session saw lots of smiling faces and it was difficult to get them off home, even after the courses had finished.

Walker the GMB Union Project Co-ordinator has designed this course
specifically to break down some of the barriers adults have with
learning.
The aim of this course is to quite simply have a lot of fun and to support those that had very little experience of using IT or Digital Photography. For dozens of learners this course has been the platform that has launched them on to a new journey for learning.
In
the New Year about 20 other ASDA employees will be starting a 10 week
Writing with Computers course with many more to follow throughout
2006. |
